Review Rate Goldfinches are winning the battle with the squirrels; thanks to metal feeder ! ! !Goldfinches are very happy with this feeder. The squirrels are frustrated and could not eat through the tubes. The squirrels have not been able to use the feeder and have not tried to get into the feeder after a few attempts. The birds are very active again and are using it on a daily basis.

Review Rate Best Thistle FeederI have always loved watching birds eating outside my window, so I was given this No/No bird feeder (as well as one other) this past Christmas and the birds and I absolutely LOVE it (especially the birds)! One of my favorite things about this bird feeder is that it is made of metal. You can't hardly find any good quality metal bird feeders anymore without it containing plastic and/or wood parts. This bird feeder has attracted a lot more of male House Finches and female American Goldfinches but some other birds enjoy it, too. The yellow color of this bird feeder is a pretty bonus as well. The birds are able to eat the Thistle/Nyjer seed through the metal mesh or from the bird feeder tray without any problems. The fact that this bird feeder allows birds to eat through the wire mesh prevents less overcrowding because there is more room to feed than just from the tray. Filling up this bird feeder is pretty easy... just twist the top lid off of the bird feeder and fill the feeder up. When you get done just put the lid back on and give it a little twist to make sure it is secure. I found it easier to fill up the bird by using a funnel or a cup because the opening of the bird feeder is kind of small which makes it more difficult to fill up the bird feeder without seeds falling to the ground. I hope to have this feeder for many years!

Review Rate Well made & durable.Love this feeder! Even more that I paid 1/2 of the asking price here. It's sturdy, easy to fill & the squirrels don't bother with it at all. Win/Win.

Review Rate No-no thistle seed feederI bought this feeder about a month ago and I'm very happy with it. It took a few days for the birds to warm up to it but now they're going crazy over it. Two nights ago we counted 11 finches on the feeder at one time! Must be some kind of record. Would recommend this feeder to anyone. Quality construction. -
Review Rate LOVE this feeder! This is a very well built feeder. I love that it has some "air" between the sections to help dry the feed when it rains. We've had an increase in our beautiful yellow finches who clearly appreciate the feeder as well. -
Review Rate Poorly Attached Ring - Otherwise GreatI’ve been feeding backyard birds for over 25 years and must say that with proper care, the No-No Model YSSF00346 all metal Finch Feeder is amazing. I’ve had my feeder for about 3 months and from day one it’s hosted anywhere from 5-8 goldfinches simultaneously throughout the day. They’re on it all the time and it’s a real hoot to watch them fight for a spot at the “table.” They empty the feeder in about 3 days, so plan on spending some bucks on nyger seed. The removable bottom tray makes emptying & cleaning the feeder a snap and the innovative, cone-shaped inserts keep seed evenly distributed top to bottom.
I have only one, major gripe in that the hanging ring is very poorly spot-welded to the top (roof). The ring snapped right off my first feeder when I grasped the hanging ring to rotate (unscrew) and remove the top to fill it. I exchanged it for a replacement, but since it seems logical to use the hanging ring in this manner, it should be more securely attached to the top. Alternatively, users should be warned against grasping the ring to unscrew & remove the top and instead grasp it by the edge.
Aside from the design/quality issue, I highly recommend this feeder to anyone who enjoys birds (and can afford to buy a LOT of nyger seed).
