Review RateDefective feeder
Feeder leaks!! I got rid of it. Luckily it is made of recyclable plastic. There are less expensive feeders that are much better.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
As long as the lid is secured tightly to the bottle and the two base pieces are assembled tightly, the feeder should not leak. We recommend keeping the feeder out of the direct sunlight (as liquid will expand when it gets warmer).

Review RateGreat feeder with no leaks!
I have had one of these for over 3 years now. No leaks, even in the wind, and the Hummingbirds in my area love it! I just have to remember to "unlock" it once it's refilled and hanging.

Humming birds won't even use it, but will use other types beside it. It't worthlessResponse From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative
We are sorry to hear about this experience, Herb, and are happy to help.
Birds, as creatures of habit, can take some time to get used to a new feeder in their environment. To aid in the transition, we recommend temporarily removing established feeders that are nearby.
Our feeders are covered by a 30 day satisfaction guarantee and a one year replacement warranty. Feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any additional questions.
Review RateVery poor feeders
The fancier you guys try to make the feeders the worse they get. Mine does not leak!!!. BUT, hang it up and pull the bottom down as instructed and the birds have eaten all the nectar in the bottom bowl, that is it. None of the nectar in the top jar flows down to the bottom, so the sucker is basically empty. I can tap on the bottom of the feeder 3 or 4 times and the nectar flows down to the bottom but it does not do it as the birds eat. Is there no testing of these feeders before they are sold to the unsuspecting public? I bought 5 Perky Pet feeders this year. This one does not work and 2 others leaked so I bought 3 from Audubon and they work perfect. Is your company too big to fail - I doubt it.Response From WoodstreambrandsAnthony : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RatePOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I have 3 of these feeders. The first two I have had for over a year and they continue to work just fine. Decided to add a third one this year, and the base on the new one does not seal properly (has a warp to it) and the nectar leaks out faster than you put it in. I have sent an email to customer service once already, asking how to get a replacement base, but they do not respond. Not happy!Response From WoodstreambrandsAnthony : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWorst Feeder Ever
worst feeder I ever bought - no matter what we try to do to it, it leaks all the juice out. Just purchased and trying to use. Leaks around the flowersResponse From WoodstreambrandsSusan : Consumer Relations Representative
Prior to filling this feeder, the bottle should be pressed down towards the base. The feeder can then be filled, and the base and lid both checked to ensure a tight seal. To allow the nectar to flow into the base, the bottle should be pulled up until a "pop" is heard.

Review RateLeaky Leaky and leaky!
Terrible leaks! Lost lots of nectar on this one.... tried with water.... worked... put nectar in.... leaked! Word of advice....tighten bottom as tight as you can ladies... the get your guy to tighten. Fill from smaller hole then add bottom on top of it. Voila... no leaks now! Would like to say... this isn't by any means my first feeder.... definately not as easy as the video shows! Shouldn't really need a video. Simple... but leaks!Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateSuggestion to solving problem
I have several of these feeders and the earlier ones I have had to replace not because they are defective but living in Louisiana the humidity and summer heat will effect the plastic, but no big deal, when the newness of color has faded, it is time to replace. I have read the disappointments and I can only say that your assembly should be redone. The very recent feeder that I purchased started to leak, I took it apart, washed it in warm water, firmly screwed in the bottom half to the top half and I mean firmly screw, then I made sure that the top cap of the reservoir is firmly screwed, this creates the vacuum, I fill the reservoir a little different. After screwing the cap on, I will turn the reservoir upside down and fill it from bottom end that screws into the base. Once the reservoir is filled, I will then firmly screw the base in, flip the feeder upright, pull up on the reservoir and you will see the nectar fill the base and wallah you should be good to go. When it is time to fill the reservoir start from the cleaning steps. It works for me I hope it works for you.

Hummingbird Feeders - Expert Tips
Filling Your Feeder:
Here are a few things to review before filling the feeder:
- Check to make sure the base compartments are securely tightened
- Push container into base to close ports to prevent leakage
- Unscrew to cap to fill with nectar
- Screw cap back on securely to form an airtight seal.
- We recommend keeping the feeder in the closed position until you get to the spot where you want to hang it.
- To open nectar reservoir - hold base with one hand and pull up on the container with the other to open ports for feeding. Your feeder is now ready.
Please note: if the cap does not fit securely on to the feeder and you see a gap between the cap and the feeder, the seal may be the issue. Please contact our Consumer Care Department at 1.800.800.1819 or firstname.lastname@example.org to request a new outer ring for you cap.
To replace the outer ring, push firmly on the center of the cap to pop out the middle. Replace with new outer ring.
Hanging Your Feeder
- Ideally a sheltered southeastern exposure location is best for hanging bird feeders since birds like to feed in the sun and out of the wind. Birds also prefer not to have any obstructions over their feeding area so they can see any predators. more»
- Keeping your feeder clean and full of fresh bird seed is very important to the health of visiting birds. It is recommended that you clean your wild bird feeder every two weeks. more»
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: I'm new to Top Fill feeders, are there tips on filling for beginners?
A: Yes, follow the steps below.
Q: What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A: Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards, such as the Perky-Pet model #203CP or ant guards, Perky-Pet model #242.
Q: How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A: Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q: What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A: Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.
