Review RateSERIOUSLY RUSTS
If you only want this feeder for one season, then this will work for you. The interior receptacle holding the nectar seriously rusts and contaminates the nectar. I took this down regularly, washed and dryed it and put it away for the winter, so it was not lack of care that caused this to rust. Although I prefer the look of this feeder, a plastic one definitely does not rust and will last longer for your money. I am a huge "birder" and since I am retired and on a fixed income, the quality and longevity of a product makes a big difference to me. This is not a good value.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateMason Jar Feeder
I bought two of these feeders and the hummers love them! I love that they are very easy to clean and fill. What I don’t love is that bases have rusted and are now useless. The rust is bad for my little birds. Is there a replacement base available? Is there a plastic replacement?Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWhat will deter rusting?
I was given a #785 for my recent birthday and it’s very pretty but I’m afraid to use it, given the 1 star ratings mentioning rust. I bought a couple of #710Bs a few years ago which the hummers loved until they became so rusted they had to be tossed out. To avoid this, could I spray my new feeder with some sort of clear spray to protect the finish inside and out? I’d really like to avoid the ugly plastic feeders if at all possible. Thank you very muchResponse From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateGreat Hummingbird Feeders
I couldn't be more pleased with the 2 mason jar glass hummingbird feeders that I ordered from Perky-Pet. Originally, my order was damaged during shipment, but Perky-Pet caught it and immediately issued replacement hummingbird feeders without me having to do a thing. The new order arrived and our hummingbirds are quite pleased.
Review RateRusts easily
I bought one of these in June thinking it would deter the squirrels which had chewed up my plastic feeders. However the inside of the base soon corroded and now it is worthless. Very disappointedResponse From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateMetal base rusts!
We have 2 of these feeders and the metal bases have totally rusted out and flakes of metal and rust get into the nectar. This is not good for hummingbirds. Do you sell replacement metal bases? If not will have to buy all new feeders.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

I love the size of this feeder, but it doesn't screw into the base easily as the base has few threads to hold it. I've wasted more food from not being able to screw it on properly, leading to leaking and then discovering all the food has leaked out. So I've stopped using it. Very disappointed.Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Filling Your Feeder:
Here are a few things to review before filling the feeder:
- Check to make sure the base compartments are securely tightened
- Push container into base to close ports to prevent leakage
- Unscrew to cap to fill with nectar
- Screw cap back on securely to form an airtight seal.
- We recommend keeping the feeder in the closed position until you get to the spot where you want to hang it.
- To open nectar reservoir - hold base with one hand and pull up on the container with the other to open ports for feeding. Your feeder is now ready.
Please note: if the cap does not fit securely on to the feeder and you see a gap between the cap and the feeder, the seal may be the issue. Please contact our Consumer Care Department at 1.800.800.1819 or firstname.lastname@example.org to request a new outer ring for you cap.
To replace the outer ring, push firmly on the center of the cap to pop out the middle. Replace with new outer ring.

Hummingbird Feeders - FAQs
Q: What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A: Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards, such as the Perky-Pet model #203CP or ant guards, Perky-Pet model #242.
Q: How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A: Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q: What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A: Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.
