Review RateDon't purchase if you care about it leaking.
Let me say this first. The hummingbirds love this feeder. I have bought several of them and then returned them because of the constant leaking of the sugar water. No matter what you do, they leak. My husband tried to put tape in the leaking areas, but didn't work. I finally threw it out. Long story short, I just purchased another one and stuck a plant under it to catch the sugar water as it is leaking.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateDoes it work?
I can't figure out how the nectar gets out, it seems the birds aren't getting any. First birds arrived 3 days ago, I saw one trying to feed don't think any went to bird, it flew up to top of feeder like it was looking for nectar then flew to the old small cylinder one 30 feet away to drink. What is wrong with this feeder??Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
The first step is to ensure the feeder is assembled properly. Please click here to view a helpful video.
Temporarily removing established feeders will also help as hummingbirds are creatures of habit and may take time to adjust to a new feeder. Placing/planting colorful flowers near the feeder will help attract them as well.

Review RateLeaky base
My feeder has leaked from the first day. Stored it for the winter and tried again - it's still leaking. I may try one of the suggestions above to see if I can get it usable.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Making sure the feeder is protected from the wind will help prevent leaks. We also recommend protecting it from the sun, since liquid expands as it gets warmer. Other tips to consider:
• Disassemble the feeder and then re-assemble it
• For top fill feeders, thread the lid onto the bottle tightly

Review RateGreat design. Follow the assembly instructions for a leak-free feeder.
I love this feeder design. It's easy to take apart and clean to be sure no mold or bees keep the hummers away or make them sick. And so easy to fill. I have 3 of these feeders in my yard in AZ. The hummers love them. You do have to follow the assembly instructions with no twisting of the base cover or it will leak.
Bought 2 of these at Audobon shop- they LEAK-!threw them out!! Wasted 40$ and they will not sell these anymore!!! Please go back to 1 piece screw on bottom! These suck as you can clearly see by other comments! I still have tons of hummingbirds here that are staying through the winter in Washington State using older feeders!Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience. When assembled with the bottle and base tightly secured, the hummingbird feeder should not leak. We recommend hanging the feeder level and keeping it out of direct sunlight.

Review RateVery good design
This worked great!
Review Rate"Perky's Finest" is not!
Purchased this beautiful feeder from Lowes. Within four hours first hummingbird perched to claim his feeder. Make my nectar. Two weeks later it began to leak. I am so unhappy. Miss watching my birds in North Carolina. Fearful to purchase further products if your company cannot guarantee. Will replace with plastic one from Dollar General. Have lovely open black iron butterfly to hang and birds rest on the butterfly wings.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Rategreat if it works
Mine leaked first week, I dissembled it, noticed water sloshing in the float. So it rides low, not enough to press against bottle and stop top from draining in a few hours. Site says no replacement parts, looks like I could send in for replacement, a bother, so I drilled a hole in the top of the float, emptied it, glued the hole and smeared glue over joint in float halves (leaked somewhere there.) It weighed 42 gm when sloshing, 19 dry, 21 after test, working well now, hope it lasts. For me, it needed a part recall: send a solid, styrofoam float. IMHO it's a too clever design. It's not a precision instrument but relies on nectar being less than a mm from bottom half. Which should be raised, has tiny valve, how long does that last?, needs solid float, too much force to pull bottom snap on , may break when plastic ages, screw on better than snap on.Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Ratebirds don't like it
I have all perky pet feeders... and this one they won't touch. They try, then fly to another and feed. I love the top fill for cleaning, etc. - however since they don't like this feeder I won't get another like it.Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateBest feeder yet?
We "won" an 8 oz top-fill feeder at a drawing. Didn't use it for a year. Finally tried and discovered (1) it doesn't leak, even in strong wind and (2) best yet, ants aren't getting inside. WOW, after 25 yrs and numerous other styles and brands! We just ordered some more. Give one a try to see for yourself!

A: No worries, with this top fill feeder - it has a built in ant moat right in the lid of the feeder. After filling your feeder and hanging, simply pour a small amount of water in the top of the lid.
Q: What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A: Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards, such as the Perky-Pet® model #203CP or ant guards, Perky-Pet® model #242.
Q: How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A: Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet® cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q: What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A. Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.
