Let's face it: killing rats probably isn't one of your favorite things to do. Which is why the Rat Zapper Classic was made to be as humane, safe, and easy to use as possible. If you want a top-quality solution that will deliver years of dependable service, buy the electronic Rat Zapper Classic for quick control of your rodent problem.

If you have average-sized rats and a need for less than 20 kills per set of batteries, get the Rat Zapper Classic electronic rat trap, equipped with a large chamber size. However, if you are dealing with larger rats, consider buying the Rat Zapper Ultra (sold separately), equipped with the largest chamber size available and is suited to kill more than 20 rats per set of batteries.

How It Works

The Rat Zapper Classic is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 20 rats with one set of 4 “AA” batteries, which makes it a truly effective rat trap.

Features

Easy to Use

How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “AA” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper Classic. A red light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Simple Setup

"Yuck"-Free Cleanup

The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.

Safe and Sanitary

The Rat Zapper Classic is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper Classic is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper Classic.

Impressed with company. By Barnyard

Presume these work. Haven't seen any lights go on. And the piece of dog food is still in there. I was really impressed: bought 3 traps- 1 didn't work. Just received the new replacement - and it works fine. Very impressed with the company.

Good price works well By Frambo35

Good price for 3 traps, have paid a lot more for older rat zappers. When placed near the small victor traps these get a mouse that the smaller traps dont attract. We use mollasses grain in these traps. Working good for us so far- about 3 weeks averaging a mouse a day.

Disappointed By Hoped to handle ourselves with your product.

I'm disappointed. I got your buy 2, get one. They have been placed where I have identified critters getting in. One started flashing after a week, but nothing inside. I reset, nothing. The other two apparently no activity. Did flashing start because batteries are failing after a week? I reset, and had same experience.

Victor® has a long history of producing high-quality and reliable products. We apologize for this experience and would be happy to provide assistance.

When baiting the trap, we recommend a small amount (pea-sized) of peanut butter or similar high protein spread on the back wall. If the bait gets on the metal plates, it can prevent the proper operation.

Our Consumer Relations Team will be glad to go through some troubleshooting together.  We can be reached at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867).  Our traps are covered by a one year replacement warranty.

So far, so good By Karly

Satisfied so far. I bought 3 and put them in various places and caught three the first 24 hours. Although, One of them keeps blinking and there is nothing in it.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. If a trap is flashing without a kill, we recommend cleaning off the metal plates to ensure the trap functions optimally.

To clean the trap, turn the unit off and remove the batteries. Use a warm, damp cloth to wipe off the metal plates inside the trap. Once the unit has air dried, it can be baited and set.

Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.

perfect! By scott harrell

Fantastic product!! These are so easy to use, and they work!! I cannot imagine the ones that marked low scores. I have 5 of these traps, 2 in my motorhome and 3 scattered around the house and storage area. I can't use poison or snap traps because of my dogs. I could not be more satisfied!!!

Very reliable By Sayonaranancy

We bought three traps 5 years ago... and we've had a lot of service out of them. Here the field mice try to escape the cold by coming in... this year one of our traps finally failed (probably the one that exposed to outdoor conditions). We immediately sent out for three more. We got them in very quickly, and they seem to be the same ones as before.

Q&A
Q.Does the light on the zapper only turn red if a mouse has been caught?
A.

The red light will blink once on start up showing the trap is working properly, it will flash red to indicate that the batteries are low and should be changed, and it will blink red to indicate a kill.

FAQs

Rat Zapper Classic Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
