Description
Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. High Voltage Shock
High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Classic is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 20 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “AA”).
LED Light Alerts With the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually.

No Touch Cleanup
No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Classic, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap For your convenience, the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “AA” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A red light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

Ridding atticn of squirrels By SamF

I've used your Rat Zappers for years. Recently a friend had an invasion of squirrels in his attic. The local pest exterminator was charging $100 per visit to get them out. I gave him two of the Rat Zappers and he's had no further trouble. His attic is now a "Squirrel-Free Zone". Thank You.

Effective rat trap By Sandrita

So far so good! We use Trader Joe’s mini peanut butter crackers and the rats seem to love it. We have already caught 3 after only a couple days.

Since you don't delivery to Puerto Rico, I had my cousin to Order for me in Orlando Florida she was coming to Puerto Rico on Vacation and she got me the electronic traps.... It work great, in my mom storage room i caught a few already. I had a problem that the rat or mouse used to go to the back of the trap and eat part of the bait. What I did was place a peace of wood at the back of the trap and Bingo it got caught. Which you could delivery to P.R. because I had some friend that I let then borrowed and they like it. For two year and still working I give it a 5 Star.......

Awesome product! It works! By Ryan

These are AWESOME! I set the black traps in conjunction and caught 1, but I think they know what the regular snap traps looks like and avoided them. I set up 2 black traps in the corner and 1 Zapper with a piece of miniature shredded wheat in the back so it does not rest on the sensor, and I walked away. A few days later 1 saw the red light flashing and got excited, wondering if the trap actually caught something. I looked inside and YES it caught a mouse! I turned the switch off and put a bag over the opening and dumped the mouse and food, then put a potato chip since I ran out of cereal. That worked too! In 2 other rooms I also had only the Zapper in use. I purchased multiple Zappers to place in strategic points based on where I saw mouse dropping or actually saw them running. They apparently didn't go into one room, but the Zapper did get one in the room at the back! I turned the switch off and dumped the body and food into a black bag and put a potato chip and turned the switch back on and walked away. In total, I have caught 2 with one Zapper and 2 with another Zapper so far. This is over a period of a few weeks. This Zapper product is the best! I think mice are not familiar with this type of trap so they get caught. I will be purchasing more soon for use at my brother's house. Hopefully the Zapper will do the same job at his house.

Works well if used the right way! By Guy

Please pass this on to Bill Kelliher... it seems that users can't answer other users comments. I have had one for 5 + years and am ordering an other. At first it didn't work and at the time the how to use instructions were different and of course I didn't read the instructions but called int to say that it wasn't any good..... Here's how I was told to use the trap and it works very well: 1- leave the zapper OFF and put peanuts on the floor close to the entrance 2-wait till the pea nuts have been eaten 3-repeat step 2 4-still with zapper off place peanuts half way into the trap and again wait till all peanuts are gone 5-turn zapper ON and place peanuts on the kill plate and VOILA a dead rat. NOTE: Rats are very intelligent and if bait is placed at the back on the first try, the rat will go in for the food but very slowly and will cense the electricity with it's whiskers and back off. By doing the above steps it will build the rat's confidence and it will charge right in to eat. AND BY BY RAT.

Response From Woodstreambrands
Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

We apologize for this experience and appreciate the time taken to share this feedback. When baiting the trap, we recommend using a toothpick amount of peanut butter on the back wall of the trap or one or two pieces of dried dog food at the back of the trap. If bait is scattered inside the trap, this may cause a false trigger.

To reset the trap, we recommend cleaning the metal plates with a hydrogen peroxide solution. Please turn the trap off and remove the batteries before cleaning. Once the trap has dried, we recommend re-baiting (following the instructions above) and placing the trap against the wall in an area where rats have been seen.

We hope this information was helpful. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Q&A
Q.what does it mean when red light stays flshing
A.

A flashing red light is an indicator of a kill.

Q.Hi bought one of these Rat Zapper classics and absolutely love it, best one I've ever had. My question however is to find out if there's a way I can adapt this to use an AC adapter instead of constantly feeding it batteries - advantage of using an AC adapter is to put it on a timer and not harm daytime critters. If adapting this isn't possible then is there a version of the Rat Zapper classic that comes with an AC adapter?
A.

We do not have any recommendations for modifying this trap for an AC power source. All of our electronic traps are battery-powered.

Q.Does the light on the zapper only turn red if a mouse has been caught?
A.

The red light will blink once on start up showing the trap is working properly, it will flash red to indicate that the batteries are low and should be changed, and it will blink red to indicate a kill.

FAQs

Rat Zapper Classic Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
