Let's face it: killing rats probably isn't one of your favorite things to do. Which is why the Rat Zapper Classic was made to be as humane, safe, and easy to use as possible. If you want a top-quality solution that will deliver years of dependable service, buy the electronic Rat Zapper Classic for quick control of your rodent problem.
If you have average-sized rats and a need for less than 20 kills per set of batteries, get the Rat Zapper Classic electronic rat trap, equipped with a large chamber size. However, if you are dealing with larger rats, consider buying the Rat Zapper Ultra (sold separately), equipped with the largest chamber size available and is suited to kill more than 20 rats per set of batteries.
How It Works
The Rat Zapper Classic is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 20 rats with one set of 4 “AA” batteries, which makes it a truly effective rat trap.
Easy to Use
How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “AA” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper Classic. A red light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.
The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.
Safe and Sanitary
The Rat Zapper Classic is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper Classic is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper Classic.

Review RateGreat Traps!
I love these traps. Great for Rats and mice. I even caught a mouse and rat in that same trap. I guess the rat went in to get the mouse. I have found that baiting them with old peanut butter works the best. I like I don't have to touch the dead critters.
Review RateNot sure if they work
We received 3 rat zappers with optional D cell battery packs. No idea that they would come this way. The battery packs are supposed to go on top and attach with velcro. The instructions state to put the auxillary packs on top of the unit with the batteries down. This results in the batteries falling and no longer making contact. We ended up putting the batteries face up and sitting the unit underneath an overhang. Have not caught anything other than a slug, despite new rat droppings in the area. This unit is baited with dry dog and cat food. Put second unit in RV with just the A batteries, have not caught a thing.Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RatePretty Effective way to kill the rats.
I first three nights I had these traps out, nothing happened. Rats still were about but avoided the traps. on the fourth night one of traps was triggered and there was residue left in the trap but no dead rat. I thought, "waste of money". Then the next night one trap got a rat and the other a mouse. two nights later we got another rat. So they do seem to work. I clean them out with a light vinegar solution to make sure the rats aren't repelled. Now I want to see how long they last.
Review RateWork great
Work great as usual have had them before very pleased thank you
Review RateGreat product
I am not into being humane to these rats, I just want them gone. Between the rattlesnakes, owls, and hawks there are still to many mice, rats, kangaroo rats! These are a high quality trap. I bought 3 and they work great. I am so glad I got them
Review RateSo So Easy and Clean to use!!
Works Great! Just make sure when you are putting the bait in the holes on the back side that you get the bait all the way in. I have caught several rats but have one that is smart enough to eat the bait through the holes on the back side without ever going in. He has done this for the past four nights in a row!! The holes on the back of the trap are to BIG! They need to be smaller. It isn't difficult for the Rat to remove the bait through the holes on the back and not get killed. I had three not so bright rats go right in and get zapped! Definitely worth the money!

Review RateSudden infestation in 1863 rowhouse
I have lived in our 1863 rowhouse for 23 years and never had any rodent problems. Recently the empty building next door was sold and massive renovation occurred. While this was great for the neighborhood the buildings on both sides developed problems with rats. I started finding bread, cookies, etc. left on the kitchen counter overnight partially eaten. Even my lazy cats dry food was disturbed. I caught 1 rat the first night I set it out and 1 every night for the next 5 nights. I haven't seen any sign of rats such as droppings, etc. since then, but am arming the RatZapper every night as a precaution. Really well worth the money. Easy, fast and very effective.
Excellent product! I always was disturbed by how inhuman other devices are. This device does the job well. I'm not sure how long it takes to kill but I don't see any signs of struggle or bleeading. I live at the foot of a mountain and had lots of large rats this spring. I borrowed one from a neighbor who highly Recomended it, and after disposing of 6 large dead guys, night after night, I bought 4 of them online one for each side of the house
Review RateRats too smart for these
I was really hoping these would work. We'd seen a couple of rats and weren't sure if they were just passing through or had taken up residence. In a week we caught nothing. They were tripped a couple of times and once the kibble was gone, but that was it. And by then we were starting to see lots of droppings and the dogs were obsessed with a couple of places under them floor, so we knew they were around. In the end we called an exterminator... 1 1/2 weeks later, no more fresh droppings and the dogs have stopped obsessing. My guess is the rats are just too smart for these; perhaps they had previous experience with them elsewhere. At best, these traps might catch a few rats at first but the others would learn to avoid them and you will have to call in professionals anyway. We will keep the traps set ...maybe they will get the mice in the fall. But a $5 trap would do that.Response From WoodstreambrandsPatty : Consumer Relations Representative

Rat Zapper Classic Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
