Did not work, returned for refund. Set trap indoors as directed with peanuts as bait. Trap repeatedly indicated as triggered, nothing in trap, perhaps rodent wore gloves? Purchased classic snap trap, problem solved. Perhaps defective unit?Response From WoodstreambrandsJules : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWorth every penny
Anything but is an absolute pain to use.setting snap traps that snap before you even put them down, emptying, resetting, etc. I am not squeamish but aside from some occasional cleaning this thing works great,is sanitary, humane, easy to bait, empty,& reset...a no brainer.I have 2 on 2 properties& want more...the cat can only catch so much& he is good!
Review RateTried all sorts of traps, this one works!!!
I have been trying to get rid of a rat in my garage for a few months. Tried all sorts of baits and traps of different sizes, but this smart little bugger (actually not so little) would take the bait sometimes tripping the traps and go off on his merry little way to cause more damage. I purchased 2 of the Rat Zappers at my local Ace Hardware, brought them home, and baited them with dog food which seemed to be his food of choice. Caught him on the first night!!! After all the damage this rodent has caused, the Rat Zapper is well worth the price. I easily emptied the trap and reset it to get any of his friends that my be hanging out with him. I highly recommend the product to anyone trying to get rid of problematic rodents when conventional traps and baits aren't working.
Review RateNot durable
This trap does work well, but it has a bad flaw. The smallest amount of moisture will be channeled to the electronics board because of the shape and design of the top cover. The board does not appear to have a coating to protect it either, and soon the trap will be non functional due to corrosion.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateBest product ever
Rarely do you find a product that lives up to its hype - but the Rat Zapper is a stellar example of a product that delivers. This is my second season of using it to eradicate the multitudes of chipmunks that are decimating my garden. Last year, in spite of many rainy days I got 49. Hoping to beat that record, so far I have 32. And over a month of rain when I couldn’t use it. The many stone walls in my garden are a haven for them, as are my bulbs and roses. I sing it’s praises to all my friends and garden club members. It’s the only thing that is effective against them. I may have to put a second one out to increase my rate!
Review RateBest Trap Ever
At first it didn't work because the directions said use dry dog food. I read the reviews and it said use peanut butter. I put peanut butter and a few pieces of dry dog food way in the back. We caught so many rats!!!! It's the best trap ever. We used the spring loaded ones and could't catch anything.
Review RateExcellent zapper
Review RateGreat product
The customer service is great. I ordered 2 rat zappers one day, they were shipped the following day and I had them the next day. I put both of them in a storage shed. About 3 hours later I checked and one of the traps had been moved. I put it back and checked the next morning. Again, one of the traps had been moved, but no rat. I called Victor and explained what was going on. The representative felt like the trap was defective and sent me another one. In the meantime the remaining good trap zapped two rats. And, then two more rats were zapped. Four rats in three days. So, yes, they do work. I need to move them because I do think the rats get wise. We live in the country and have animals so we always have rats, but my Victor Rat Zappers are helping.
Review RateBest invention in along time.
This is far by the best inventions in along time . No mess .
Review RateWorks great !
Worth the money and lasts a long time, as long as you keep an eye on the batteries and don't let them corrode the contacts. I had 2 units and passed them on to friends after my rodent problem disappeared.
Rat Zapper Classic Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
