Review RateGreat product
Was so happy to get my Rat Zappers. My previous set died a few years ago and decided to try old school traps to save money. When I saw the price for two traps, I immediately ordered them. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time and are working great. So nice not to have clean up and look at a nasty mess. PS, I use cheap Friskies dry food for bait. I drop a few morsels at the back of the trap and then put a short trail leading into the trap and get a kill everytime.
Review Rategood at killing large rats
We have to use it outside in a protected place, but after gathering and killing a few rats, the plate gets messed up with rat pee and poop, so they no longer work. But if they don't get wet, they work well. Lost count of how many rats we got outside in our rural location. We so far don't have any problems inside the well-sealed house. Would like instructions on how to clean the plate.Response From WoodstreambrandsJules : Consumer Relations Representative
Hi there! We do not recommend using these traps outdoors, as the elements could cause the trap to be ineffective. In order to clean the trap, turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries. Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely, and then replace the batteries and turn the unit back on. Review Ratecant say good or bad
well folks, I bought 3 traps, put in new batteries, baited the traps over two weeks ago. I've had 2 traps set off. red light flashing, bait scattered.no critters to dump. I'll give a three only because i'm optimistic. I think they will do the job. I got no proof. thinking about a screen door and 110 outlet.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateComposing the Rat Zapper
In 2 years it worked once to kill a rat; otherwise it looses bait, and the red light flashes. Maybe we have no rats! Nope, we live on the west coast where rats are common. More effective was buying a metal compose bin.Response From WoodstreambrandsJules : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWe wouldn't use anything else
Rat Zappers are great!!! I've used your electronic traps for years and have had nothing but good luck with them. We originally had five which an acquaintance borrowed never to be seen again. Then, this year a pack of the horrid little animals began attacking our tomatoes. We purchased two Zappers and placed them on our fence at night and brought them in, in the morning. We know they are for in-door use but we placed them and brought them in before the temperatures climbed and made sure they would not get wet. As always, they work great - six rats zapped. Yes, they are a little "pricy" but they are so much better than the regular old traps.
I was so excited when I read the abilities of your product (Rat Zapper). I ended up with two of them and a huge disappointment. I have faithfully and enthusiastically set them up time after time with no success at all. Very, very disappointed. The customer service was excellent unfortunately the product was not.Response From WoodstreambrandsLauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNot very successful.
I purchased one zapper last year and after a few months, it stopped working, even with fresh batteries. I purchased another one this year, 2019, never worked. I'd like to see if hooking up to an AC adapter would make a difference. There's a place on the top that looks like where one would go in, but not sure. I had a small ground squirrel go in, get zapped a few times. And I thought it was dead. I went to dump it, and the thing ran away. Bait is always gone, but nothing in the trap. Light turns green ok. If red, the bait will be gone, but nothing in the trap. Frustrated.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Rate50/50 pleased
I have SIX of these now. My thoughts are "50/50"......YES they work as advertised ....after 3 months....only FOUR work (frustrating as not "much" to go "wrong")...yes I use new fresh batteries and yes, the contact plate is clean. I'd like to buy 3 more.....but....BUT...a, sitting on the fence....because A) obviously I don't want to buy "duds"....B) if the plates don't work, no where to get them fixed .Response From WoodstreambrandsLauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Rat Zapper Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
