Five Stars “Thank you so much for this improved design – and a wide-mouth opening for easy filling and cleaning. This glass feeder design has been a hummingbird favorite in my garden. But that old tiny top opening made it impossible to clean well. With this wide-mouth opening not only is this a hummingbird favorite but mine as well” Read More Reviews »

Perfect hummingbird feeder By Brenda
I've been using this style feeder for many years as well as some different styles. My hummers prefer this style because they like being able to perch while they feed. I've stopped using the other styles completely! I don't have a problem with leakage except in heavy wind and love that these are so easy to clean.

So easy to clean! By Willow
I love this feeder! I have had them for years and never had a problem with leakage. They are much easier to clean than any other designs I have owned—that is the biggest plus for me. The birds like it, too. True that it rusts after a few years, but that doesn’t stop the birds, they still love to feed from them. Just be sure to clean them as usual—the rust is on the outside.

Waste of sugar water By Dave
Beautiful feeder, but like most here - it leaks around the perimeter. It appears that it was designed to have a rubber seal to be fitted between the twp halves. It is also supposed to have a "tighten" between the two halves but nothing to tighten against. The response of tighten the bottle as tight as you can does not work as it keeps the water from getting to the feeders. I think the issue is with the lack of a seal - that keeps the halves from leaking and helps to tighten. So....where is the seal?

So disappointed By dahliadreamer

I also have the same issue with the base leaking. I can't keep liquid in it long enough for it to possibly rust, which is the other complaint that I've seen. I had a little hummingbird this morning looking to feed, I made the nectar, filled it but it's pouring out. Usually my sweetie does this, he can get it right but I noticed that they would try the different little spouts and just fly off. Obviously they were not getting any nectar because it was too tight which was the 3rd complaint I saw. These precious little ones will not be feeding at my house today! Hopefully the neighbors have some nectar out for them.

Thank you for sharing this recent experience with this feeder. When filling the feeder, it is important for the bottle to be tightly secured to the base. Then, quickly flip the feeder right side up at the hanging location. Be sure that it is placed in a shaded location with little wind. Our feeders are backed by a one year replacement policy. Reach out to us directly at 1-855-737-5973 with any questions.

I have been buying these feeders for years. In all cases they have rusted. Not only does the copper rust the red flowers rust. Something is wrong on the manufacturing line.

Base leaks horribly By Mary

The base leaks like a sieve! I am so disappointed. I bought it and filled it and sugar water leaked everywhere all over my balcony. There is no way to tighten the base so that it doesn't leak.

Totally disappointed By Cathie

I also had an older version of this model and the hummers flocked to it! I kept watching the hummingbirds alight on this new feeder, insert their beak and fly right off to the next opening. Same thing. Repeat; same thing. My heart broke for them as they kept trying and then flew off. I don’t understand why you would change this model without thoroughly field testing. Very very disappointed in your product. Unfortunately I don’t plan on buying another of your Perky-Pet products.

Leaks at bases By bendorion

The feeder leaks from the base where the two metal parts connect. It is not coming out of the flowers on the base, but where the two metal pieces fit together. It needs something to seal the two base pieces while allowing them to be disassembled for cleaning. Unfortunately I did not keep the receipt.

Response From Woodstreambrands
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Thank you for sharing this feedback. To prevent the nectar from leaking out the seam in the base, the bottle and base should be tightly threaded. If this does not resolve the leaking, please contact us directly at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for assistance.

Q&A
Q.Can i buy replacement glass?
A.

Replacement parts are not available, however, this feeder is covered under a one year warranty for replacement.

Q.This feeder leaks around the base. What can I do?
A.

We recommend cleaning the feeder and re-assembling it tightly. It should also be kept out of the direct sunlight as liquid will expand when it gets warmer.

Tips

Hummingbird Feeders - Expert Tips

Filling Your Feeder:

Here are a few things to review before filling the feeder:

  1. Check to make sure the base compartments are securely tightened
  2. Push container into base to close ports to prevent leakage
  3. Unscrew to cap to fill with nectar
  4. Screw cap back on securely to form an airtight seal.
  5. We recommend keeping the feeder in the closed position until you get to the spot where you want to hang it.
  6. To open nectar reservoir - hold base with one hand and pull up on the container with the other to open ports for feeding. Your feeder is now ready.

Please note: if the cap does not fit securely on to the feeder and you see a gap between the cap and the feeder, the seal may be the issue. Please contact our Consumer Care Department at 1.800.800.1819 or consumers@woodstream.com to request a new outer ring for you cap.

To replace the outer ring, push firmly on the center of the cap to pop out the middle. Replace with new outer ring.

Hanging Your Feeder

  • Ideally a sheltered southeastern exposure location is best for hanging bird feeders since birds like to feed in the sun and out of the wind. Birds also prefer not to have any obstructions over their feeding area so they can see any predators. more»
