Review RateAmazon ReviewThe wire was easy to manage and string along the fence . The product arrived in a timely manner. I would definitely purchase this product in the future and would reccomend it to others.
Review RateAmazon ReviewI'm into my second season with my electric fence. I bought a brand new charger and last year's faded polywire barely held any charge. I took the whole thing out and replaced it with the aluminum wire. Voltage went from 2.5K to over 10K (fence tester only displays up to 9.9K). Same charger, same day.
Review RateAmazon ReviewReally good price. Works excellent for hotwire. Conducts better than the small strands woven into the poly string or poly tape. Gets my horses attention and keeps them off the fence. Will order again.
Review RateAmazon ReviewWe bought this to run a hot wire at the top of a small pasture and paddock, to keep horses from pressing down on the non-climb horse fencing because the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence, even when there is no grass on the other side of the fence. Recently, we decided to fence a larger pasture entirely with electric fencing as horse fencing would have been very expensive for so large an area. This was the best price I found on 17-gauge aluminum wire, and we had been satisfied with the wire we used earlier. Aluminum wire does stretch, so it is important to include tensioners in the fencing for easier adjustment as time elapses. But it does not rust, like galvanized wire. We have a small charger, yet it provides enough of a deterrent to keep the horses away from the wire and the dogs out of the pastures. I wanted 1/2 mile, but it was cheaper to buy two 1/4-mile spools than 1 1/2-mile spool. That, of course, could change.
Review RateAmazon Revieweasy to use wire for smaller jobs of having a fence to keep pests from garden areas. highly recommend for use.
Review RateAmazon ReviewI have used this wire in the past to keep the current flowing and keeping the critters out of my ranch. The wire lasts a very long time, I'm not replacing wire I needed to add to what I already had.
Review RateAmazon ReviewI bought the small spool, 350'. way to short but the lenght did the trick. for my 3 stranded goat pen.
Review RateAmazon ReviewAluminum is great because it conducts electric well and doesn't rust also very easy to work with when you need to cut and twist ends.
Review RateAmazon Reviewdoes the job it is intended for. easy to work with and you get lots for the price. good deal
Review RateAmazon ReviewI have a garden which the deer and groundhogs do their best to destroy so opted to install an electric fence around the perimeter. I purchased this wire and ran four strands at varying heights around the garden and haven't had a problem with animals since. The wire was easy to work with and did its job. I'd use it again.
- All About
Features and Benefits
- Carries charge better than steel wire
- Will not rust
- Permanent fencing
- Perimeter fencing
Aluminum wire is the best for carrying a charge. Aluminum conducts electricity four times better than steel wire. Aluminum will cost more but will not rust like ungalvanized steel wire.
The height and spacing of the wires will vary with the animal you are containing. Position one electrified wire at animal’s shoulder height; this will cause it to hit the fence with its nose, making it back up.
Use poly tape for horse fencing or in rotational grazing since the animals can easily see this highly visible electric fence wire. Splice poly tape with splicer buckles specially designed for easy splicing and repairing of poly tape.
Poly wire is lightweight, so it is very easy to handle. You can rewind it very easily, move it and re-use it. Splice poly wire by tying a good, tight knot to maintain connections. Use a poly wire line tightener on each line and each side of the fence to maintain wire tension.
Also highly visible, this electric poly rope is also used for horses and livestock. When repairing poly rope, use a splicer designed for poly rope to maintain a good electrical connection.
FENCE CHARGERS FOR WIRE
Use a low impedance fence charger with poly wire and poly tape products.
PERMANENT PERIMETER FENCING
For a permanent perimeter fence, you may want to use high tensile or steel wire as your fence wire.
Fence Wire FAQs
Q: Why is poly tape better for use with horses than regular wire?
A: It's a matter of visibility. Horses can see the tape more readily than wire. Remember, electric fencing is a psychological barrier: after a horse has met up with a poly tape electric fence and has felt the shock, when it sees the poly tape again, it will remember the shock and stay away from the fence.
Q: Why should I place one wire at the animal's shoulder?
A: Positioning one electrified wire at animal’s shoulder height will cause the animal to hit the fence with its nose, making the animal back up. See illustration below.
Q: What is the advantage of using high-tensile wire rather than aluminum wire?
A: High tensile wire is designed to be both a psychological barrier and a physical barrier. High tensile wire not only carries a shock, it is also sturdy enough to prevent a large bull from penetrating the fence line (as long as it has been installed correctly.)
In addition, aluminum wire can stretch out over time as tension is applied to it (very slowly). High tensile wire will not stretch; this affordable barrier can last for many, many years.
