Perky-Pet® Squirrel Stumper™
Bring Beautiful Birds to Your Backyard
Welcome a wide range of wild birds to your yard with this Perky-Pet® Squirrel Stumper™. This feeder attracts both clinging and perching birds--everything from cardinals, chickadees, finches, and grosbeaks to jays, nuthatches, tufted titmice, and woodpeckers. Combining rustic charm with useful functionality, this hanging bird feeder makes a lovely addition to any personal collection or a thoughtful housewarming or holiday gift idea for the bird lover on your list.
This Squirrel Stumper™ wild bird feeder features a squirrel-resistant metal cage that helps prevent squirrel damage, so the feeder lasts longer. The feeder's metal cage also helps deter squirrels from raiding the seed ports, while its twist lock top not only allows for quick, easy filling, but also makes it possible to lock the lid in place, helping to prevent squirrels from accessing the seed through the top.
Easy to Fill and Use
This bird feeder holds up to 3 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanuts, a fruit/nut combo, or mixed seed. After filling the feeder, simply hang it in the yard, and watch as your feathered friends fly in to feast. The clear plastic seed compartment offers at-a-glance convenience when checking seed levels. With eight seed-dispensing ports, you can enjoy watching the beautiful birds feeding from almost any angle.
This Squirrel Stumper™ wild bird feeder's hanging metal loop allows for sturdy hanging near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.
Cleaning the Feeder
Keep this bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it every few weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

Review RateBirdfeederLove the birdfeeder, that's why I bought 3!!
Review Ratesquirrel stumperI bought this a week ago and our smart squirrels love it as all they have to do is hang on upside-down and eat. The birds can't get near it, so this should be called a squirrel feeder.Response From WoodstreambrandsSusan : Consumer Relations RepresentativeAt Perky-Pet®, we strive to produce feeders that will be difficult or impossible for squirrels to access, we apologize that this was not your experience.
In areas with high squirrel populations, a more holistic approach may be needed. Safflower seed is a good option for seed, as squirrels typically do not care for the flavor. To further help deter squirrels from stealing seed, we recommend hanging your feeder 10 feet from the nearest squirrel launching site and at least 5 feet off of the ground. .

Review RateSquirrel Stumper?? It Didn\'t Stump my Squirrels!!Listen, it took my squirrels about an hour to figure out how to open the top of the seed container. It DOESN'T lock!! I ended up putting strapping tape over it to hold it in place for 2 days before they chewed through it. This feeder is poorly designed. The squirrels can hang every which way and get seeds from any of the eight feeding stations they choose. But, the worst problem is that while the squirrels are ransacking the feeder, all of my birds are kept away from it. After three days of frustration, i took this feeder down and replaced it with my old one. No, I wouldn't recommend this feeder unless you want to feed the squirrels. It should be advertised as a squirrel feeder to be more accurate.Response From WoodstreambrandsMichael : Consumer Relations RepresentativeThank you for your recent Perky-Pet® review. It is recommended that the feeder be placed at least 8-10 feet away from any platforms the squirrels may use to jump to access. The feeder also features a twist lock cap. We apologize for this experience and would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what occurred.

Review RateBottom Rusting OutI bought this feeder a year ago. It clogs up easily. The bottom is rusting out. The top does not fit back on easily after filling. The design should be changed to be the same as your model 102.Response From WoodstreambrandsSusan : Consumer Relations RepresentativeThank you for your recent Perky-Pet® review.

Review RateAmazon Review,I have a feeding station with this feeder, a finch sock, a mesh sunflower feeder, a waterer, and a top mounted squirrel proof feeder on top. Also 2 suet feeders attached to the pole. By far this little wire wrapped feeder is the most active feeder of them all. The sparrows love it and I will get more than 6 at a time fighting to get a perch, while the other feeders sit empty. The big one on top has the same feed in it and rarely has a bird at it unless this one is all full up and no place to land.
Review RateAmazon ReviewLike the feeder but the squirrel just hangs on the side and eats from the openings. The design does keep the food from spilling out too easily when it jumps off and the feeder swings.
Review RateAmazon Review, great bird feederThis feeder is replacing an identical one I have used for 6 years with no problems. I love it, it stops the wasting of seed and takes a rough treatment with our area winds. I broke my previous one when I chipped away ice.
Review RateSquirrels are not stumpedAs another reviewer stated, the squirrels hang from their hind legs from the top of the feeder eating the seed from the bottom ports. They have no problem getting at the seed and when the seed on the bottom tray runs out they used their front paws to scoop out more seed. I'm hesitant to get any of the pressure closing feeders since they never apply any of their weight at the feeder ports since they hang from their hind legs on the top of the feeder and eat away.
