Perky-Pet® Squirrel Stumper™
Bring Beautiful Birds to Your Backyard
Welcome a wide range of wild birds to your yard with this Perky-Pet® Squirrel Stumper™. This feeder attracts both clinging and perching birds--everything from cardinals, chickadees, finches, and grosbeaks to jays, nuthatches, tufted titmice, and woodpeckers. Combining rustic charm with useful functionality, this hanging bird feeder makes a lovely addition to any personal collection or a thoughtful housewarming or holiday gift idea for the bird lover on your list.
Squirrel-Resistant Design
This feeder features a squirrel-resistant metal cage that helps prevent squirrel damage for longer feeder life. A metal cage also helps deter squirrels from raiding the seed ports, while its twist lock top not only allows for quick, easy filling, but also locks the lid in place, helping to prevent squirrels from accessing the seed through the top.
Easy to Fill and Use
This bird feeder holds up to 3 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanuts, a fruit/nut combo, or mixed seed. After filling the feeder, simply hang it in the yard, and watch as your feathered friends fly in to feast. The clear plastic seed compartment offers at-a-glance convenience when checking seed levels. With eight seed-dispensing ports, you can enjoy watching the beautiful birds feeding from almost any angle.
Suggested Placement
This Squirrel Stumper™ wild bird feeder's hanging metal loop allows for sturdy hanging near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.
Cleaning the Feeder
Keep this bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it every few weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

Review Rate Squirrel proof??Song birds love this feeder and so do the squirrels! They easily twist the lid off and feed until they are full. This feeder would be great with a true squirrel proof lid.
Response From WoodstreambrandsJules : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHi Deb! Thank you for taking the time to let us know your feedback! We're sorry to hear that those pesky squirrels seem to have figured out how to get into your feeder. We recommend adding a squirrel baffler, if you have not done so already. Ideal placement would be at least 12 feet away from any type of launch pad (tree, fence…) and at least 4 feet off the ground. Another easy tip is to add some cayenne pepper to the seed – squirrels hate it, but it doesn’t bother the birds at all. Review Rate I must be a squirrelTerrible feeder. I can’t even get the top off to fill and no video. I have twisted and twisted and don’t get anywhere because the end of the space blocks the other side from twisting. A friend got it opened once and it took a week before they would get near it but now I can’t open it again. You are right though, it stumps the squirrels. I’m afraid it’s going back to the store...
Response From WoodstreambrandsLauren : Consumer Relations RepresentativeThank you for sharing this feedback. There is a notch at the top edge of the lid. To open the feeder, simply twist the lid slightly until it unlocks and can be lifted off. Reach out to us directly at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any questions.

Review Rate Not a squirrel stumperDoesn't stump the squirrels at all. They love this feeder and eat from it until their stomachs are full. They may not be able to gnaw it very well, but they sure can get to the seed. Even the one that is supposed to close with their weight does not prevent them from eating what they want.
Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations RepresentativeWe appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that you have not seen the success we typically see with this feeder. We would like to know more about your experiences in trying to deter squirrels. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for assistance, we're happy to help.

Review Rate Can’t twist off the topI can’t get the lid off to even try it, very frustrating, I don’t know what is wrong? No directions?

Review Rate Great company that stands behind their productsI really love this feeder I have not had any problem with squirrels and the birds are happy that the seeds feed freely to the being tray

Review Rate 3 ordered, 2 received in damaged condition! Plastic casing was cracked when received. So 1 in great condition and in use, works well! :O) We love the style...Love the design! We have the same model as this, ours locks quite securely at the top. Can't imagine a squirrel being able to twist the metal top either direction to twist it off? I can see how a squirrel would hang down and pick a port and enjoy eating out of one or eight. lol The price was only $12.99 (?) and so far so good. The only thing was the shipping... One we having hanging came in perfect condition, 2 others arrived with long cracks down the plastic. :( Hopefully the company will replace those since most likely it happened in shipping. We haven't had any get rain on the seeds but that concerns us since we've seen the comment above. Anyone else have that issue? Is that from wind? Not sure how the rain would get in with the top on?
Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHello Beth,

Review Rate didn't workDidn't stump my squirrels...they simply took the top off and reached in.
Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHello,
We are sorry to hear of this experience! While the feeder includes a squirrel-resistant design, placement is also key when deterring the squirrels. The feeder should be kept at least 12 feet away from launching points (such as a tree, fence, deck, large bush..etc) and four feet off the ground. Installing a squirrel baffler above or below the feeder will also work well to deter the squirrels(when placed in the proper position).
Our Consumer Relations Team is happy to provide additional assistance! Please feel free to contact us at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973). -
Review Rate Clogs and challenging for birdsThis clogs. The center tube is two pieces. The top tube fits inside the bottom tube. Rain runs down and seeps into crevice between the tubes. One continuous tube or having the bottom tube inserted inside the top tube would help to keep the water out. Birds were also challenged to grip the wire and to get their beaks into the feeding ports.
Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHello Gus,
Thank you for providing this feedback! We are very sorry to hear of this experience and have shared these comments with our Product Managers. This information is very helpful to us!
