Often, one mouse that you see means many mice you don't see, and a mouse infestation in your home or office isn't just a nuisance. Capturing and releasing mice somewhere they can't cause troublesome infestations is simple with Victor® traps.Free of Poisons and Snapping Parts This Catch & Hold™ Mouse Trap uses natural baits to allow live capture and release of pest animals. These traps are also free from snapping parts like conventional mousetraps, ensuring small fingers or curious pets aren't injured by mistake. The fully sealed design means you never have to touch the mice. When it's time to release, simply open the secured lid and let the mice out.Simple to Use The Catch & Hold™ Mouse Trap is designed to be simple for homeowners to use, without ever having to touch a mouse. Simply bait the trap with peanut butter, and place where you know mice travel. Once the trap is full - it holds up to four rodents - follow the guidelines of your municipality to release them back into the wild, away from other neighborhoods. These traps may be used over and over until your mouse problem is solved.Trapping Tips It's important to use the right number of traps. While you may only see a few animals, mice are fast and used to hiding. Studies show that more mice are captured the first night that traps are set, and choosing too few traps may mean the mice that remain are wary. Ridding your home or business from these pests can potentially take longer if not enough traps are set.“Caught my little guest the first night I set it out. Released the little one back into the wild. Simple set up, easy cleaning and reusable. Review RateBest way to feed mice
After three nights of waiting, this morning I found the bait gone, the entryway bent and the plastic tab at the front chewed away. Now it's more of a restaurant than a trap.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNo way to see if there is a catch
If you buy this trap you are most likely an animal lover and don’t want to kill these tiny creatures... This trap is a death trap!!! I do not recommend it at all!!! The only one that makes sense is the one with a clear lid... I checked the trap daily and thought there was nothing in it because the mouse it had caught was tiny and there’s no way to see inside, so I picked it up to check for extra weight, to determine if there was a catch, but because she was so tiny and I couldn’t tell, this poor tiny mouse suffered a terrible torturous death!!! This happened years ago but it traumatized me and I still feel devastated when I think about it... Not ok!!!! Clear or light lids is the only sensible thing to offer!!! Can that dark green!!!!Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateGood Trap when you get one of the properly built one's...
Had mouse in our condo during winter. Bought two of these and caught two mice, but took a few week's before they decided to finally crawl in. Bought two more hoping to repeat the first rounds success. This time, they went into the trap wiped out the bait (Kit Kats, they love them) and escaped. The traps are made of cheaper malleable plastic. I did find when looking at them at Home Depot most of them had warped quite a bit (I checked about a dozen) and either the metal ramp wouldn't move easily, or the shorter metal door didn't go all the way up. My advice when shopping these is to look VERY carefully in the store to ensure the mechanisms in the one your buying closely properly. Happy Hunting!!!Response From WoodstreambrandsLauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateActual trap different than pictured trap on packaging
The trap we bought has packaging just like shown, but is different inside, with a short solid metal door insteal of the long perforated one shown on the cover. The door lies down on the floor and I can’t see how it closes, but that may be connected to the small metal dowel that fell out of the trap when we took the lid off. Will try it anyway, but as of now, it seems as if mouse can walk in, eat, then walk out.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateZERO instructions regarding what appears to be an important feature of this product.
Very disappointed with the instructions for this live trap. There is a metal "flap" in front of the "tetter-totter" mechanism but no -- I mean ZERO -- instruction about how to position the flap. If it is pushed downward onto the tetter-totter it impedes the function of the tetter-totter. If it is positioned upright, mice cannot enter the trap. Somewhere in between? HOW WOULD I KNOW? The online video that you provide doesn't even mention the flap!! If this is a modification to the original design, why haven't you invested in updating the instructions on the packaging, the (hard to read) instructions on the trap itself or in your online video?!?Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateGreat trap
Used peanut butter, worked within hours.
Review RateWorked first try!
Worked perfectly! Set it up before bed and caught the mouse the first try. I just feel better knowing I didn't have to kill anything (or deal with a dead body) just not my thing. Thank you for having this option available! My only criticism would be that it's a little nerve wracking trying to slide the thing open to let the mouse out when you release, maybe some tweaking of that could make this an even better product. Did what I needed it to do and I feel good :)
Review RateThey don't work!
worthless. I haven't purchased the Tin Cat, but no small plastic trap has ever, ever worked for me, and I have read a lot about where to place trapes, how and with what to bait them. Don't waste your money on these or ultrasonic repellents. I doubt this review will be published. If it is, you can trust this site for honesty. The snap traps seem to be most effective and provide a quick humane kill. Large mul;ti-mouse trappers can woprk well the first night or two, then are often avoided ever after. A few times per month they accidentally kill a mouse, and not in a quick or kind way, so check them often.Response From WoodstreambrandsJennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateEmpty trap promptly
The traps work but they are a little flimsy. If the mice are in there too long, they will chew their way out. I read reviews online before I purchased and followed these suggestions: check trap every 24 hours and remove captured mice promptly; use duct tape to ensure lid stays on the trap before setting.
Review RateWorked perfectly
I haven't had any mice escape. The plastic is strong and as long as the pieces are on track (same as the crisper drawer in your refrigerator, for example) then it stays shut no problem. I've caught 6 total now, sometimes two at once, though I really don't see how 4 mice could fit. Probably three tops. CHECK IT OFTEN, SET A REMINDER ALARM IF NEEDED. They will be terrified, thirsty and hungry. I let them out of the trap into a secure bucket with plastic over it if I can't go release them immediately. If you plan on buying this trap and then just throwing the whole thing into the garbage without releasing the mouse... SHAME ON YOU. It will die an awful, slow death. Just buy a kill trap instead! Put the poor thing out of it's misery! This is a humane trap for a reason - it is not meant to be a torture device. Catch and RELEASE.
Victor® Live Traps - Expert Tips
Location, Location, Location!
The most important rule for the effective use of traps is good trap placement location based on thorough inspections to determine the high-activity areas of rodents.
Number of Traps
The most common trapping mistake is using of too few traps. For only a couple of mice, a dozen traps are not too many. For severe mouse infestations, traps should be placed close together in double sets in areas of high activity.
Importance of the First Night
Statistics show that more mice are trapped on the first night than on any other night.
Offer Multiple Bait Choices
When many rodents are involved, different types of baits should be used. Individuals in a rodent population forage for different types of food.
Victor® Glue Traps - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many of mice are born at once? How do I know that I've trapped them all?
A: It’s practically impossible to tell when you've trapped them all. You should continue to trap as long as you see mice or notice signs of activity. The most apparent sign of an infestation is fresh droppings.
Q: What is the most common mistake in trapping?
A: The true number of rodents present is underestimated. As a result, not enough traps are used. Although you have killed a few rodents, the remainder of the population continues to multiply.
