Trapping Has Never Been Easier
Trapping has never been more simple than with Havahart® Easy Set® traps. Patented technology allows you to set your trap with just one hand, and let critters go without ever touching the door. Plus, updated sturdy hardware provides additional comfort and durability to this simple rabbit trap.
Set and Release with One Hand
Set this animal trap in just 1 simple step. Just pull on the patented Easy Set® lever to lock open the door, and it's ready for a catch. Best of all, the lever also allows you to release the animal while standing away from the trap, clear of the animal's escape path.
Enlarged Hand Guard and Carrying Handle Protect You
An enlarged steel plate covers the entire width of the top of the trap, protecting your hand from contact with the animal, and the updated, rigid plastic carrying handle makes the handling experience even more comfortable for you.
Rolled Metal Edges Protect the Animal
Like other Havahart® traps, this one is constructed of one-piece wire mesh, galvanized for resistance to rust and corrosion. And edges are polished smooth to protect the animal from injuring itself during transport.
No-Escape Door Locks Give You Peace of Mind
The tight spring-loaded door features an updated door lock with added reinforcements, making your trap more escape-proof than ever.
Sensitivity Screw to Target Specific Sized Animals
This sensitivity screw allows you to tailor the trip force of the trap to the target animal. For small animals like squirrels that require more sensitivity to trip the trap, turn the sensitivity screw to the left (-). Larger animals like skunks need less sensitivity, so turn the screw to the right (+), generating a less sensitive trip action. The sensitivity screw gives you the opportunity to catch only the animals you want.

Review RateAdjusted for smaller critters
I love this trap but had some small squirrels and rats either fail to trip the plate or squeeze through the mesh once the door closed. I simply covered the back portions of the cage with a smaller gauge hardware cloth using zip ties. I filed down the trigger to make it more sensitive and it works like a charm on big or small critters with a hair trigger. The galvanized steel can be a bit rough or irregular. I would suggest looking at the mechanism of your trap to be sure the mechanism works smoothly and file down catch points as needed.
Review RateRecommend but carefully examine before use.
I bought this Easy Set Trap a couple of weeks ago. At first I was puzzled because my bait was being eaten but no squirrels were being captured. I experimented with the. trigger sensitivity but still no squirrel! Finally I inspected the linkage and trap door and bingo! The problem was the door had been installed at an angle causing the door to jam against the cage wall. A couple of whacks with my hammer corrected the angle and two hours later I captured my first squirrel ! I would have rated this product five stars otherwise. I would buy it again and I full heartedly recommend it!

Review RateEXCELLENT TRAPS FOR GREY SQUIRRELS
This should really just be an update to my earlier review, but can't see how to add/edit that, so writing another. These traps are excellent for capturing Eastern Grey Squirrels! From Christmas Day, December 25th of 2017 until mid-October 2018, I trapped and removed 182...yes ONE-HUNDRED-EIGHTY-TWO of these pesky grey squirrels from my fenced-in back yard. And my yard is just a 1/12th acre in-town lot! Also captured, and released two blue jays, and either two or the same one twice, red squirrels. People always roll out the "Red squirrels are the worst" comments, but to me, they are cute, and there are far far far fewer of them, and they never try to climb the bird feeder poles! Also have a couple of well behaved, and trained, chipmunks. After October 2018 I stopped setting the traps, and didn't really have a problem with squirrels throughout the Winter. And then in the last week of March 2019, one, then two, then three of the greys suddenly arrived in the yard under the bird feeders. I set out the traps, and in that one week I captured 7 and removed them. Also a young opossum, which I promptly let loose. (They supposedly love to eat ticks, and are the mammal most resistant to rabies, so felt no need to remove him.) After April 1, rarely saw a single grey squirrel. Then about 3 weeks ago (late July) suddenly grey squirrels started showing up in the yard again. Got out my trusty traps, and have now captured and transported away 9 squirrels. This size and these easy set traps are EXCELLENT!! I can't stress enough how great they are, how well they work, and how easy to use! On another note, using a large two door Havahart trap, I've recently captured and removed a really huge smelly woodchuck (biggest and stinkiest I've ever captured..never noted the smell before, figured this one to be a fully mature male) and a smaller first year juvenile just yesterday. Those traps also work great, but are more touchy to set, and bulkier to carry with the animal in it, but still excellent to rid us of the invasive pests. And all this (including more woodchucks and three skunks last year)in my fenced in 1/12th of an acre town lot! Amazing. By the way, the blue jays love to steal the peanuts in the shell, and often have emptied the trap of that bait! Only twice got caught, but they will try it always. Even putting the peanuts UNDER the trap doesn't stop them, they just peck through the shell until they can get the nut. Really funny and amazing to me to watch occasionally.....the other times I'm whooping and shooing them away! I transport all these captures over a large river and about five miles away to some wooded areas. I'm confident NONE of them have ever made the return journey to my yard, again contrary to some lore on that subject. I've also become the neighborhood trapper, setting and catching nuisance woodchucks and skunks in other neighbors yards. Except once, whenever I've got a skunk, I usually call for a licensed wildlife trapper to come deal with it, but I suspect he terminates them versus releasing so I don't ask questions.
Review RateCANNOT RECOMMEND ESPECIALLY FOR RABBITS
At this time we must agree with others that feel that this trap (and we bought TWO) was a total waste of money. We caught one squirrel and that is all this product wrote. After reading many, many reviews that made suggestions and other work-arounds, such as hanging the bait from the top of the cage or weighing down the trip plate, and numerous other well-intended recommendations, we either have the cagiest (yes, pun intended) critters roaming our property or this product just does not work, especially for rabbits, which have been our biggest nuisance for many years. We had tried all of the other useless methods such as repellents based on scent (like cayenne pepper, mothballs, soap, human hair, animal urine, blood meal, etc.), to chasing them or hosing them away, as well as modifying our gardens with plants that rabbits supposedly don't like. Right. There ARE none. Unfortunately, as a local garden center employee once said, "the only thing rabbits understand is a shot gun." Too bad it's illegal. After 14 years, I HAVE no heart left.Response From WoodstreambrandsKathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateDon't know what you'll catch
The trap is very easy to set hence the 5 stars. My motive is to catch the little rabbit that is eating all my perennials and my shrubbery. Even using havahart bait recommendations, the rabbit will not go in the trap, but the chipmunks will and the squirrels will, as well as a opossum. I stopped trying to catch the rabbit because you set a trap you don't know what you'll catch. Fear of catching a skunk!! Just been using scent deterrent and being a crazy lady chasing the rabbit when I see him!!
Review Ratewould recommend and buy again
caught 3 squirrels the first day, thanks to peanut butter. In 1 week we have caught and removed 12 squirrels. Waiting for new residents to come and take over vacant trees. Then we will load and remove again. Probably a never ending battle, but we will prevail. Easy to set traps and easy to release.
Review Ratesafe and easy to use humane trap
I am 64 years old and started using your two door traps to catch Raccoons, Opossums and other nuisance animals. I would release them away from our house as a kid and continue to use them. Your easy set trap was a Godsend. I now help my elderly neighbors by removing the same nuisance animals and well as squirrels who get into the attic. There is no better trap made than the easy set. The addition of the cover over the carry handle makes it safer to carry and easy to release. On a large raccoon, I tie a piece of paracord to the release handle and use it to open the door for release. You can't beat that for a safety issue.
Review RateExcellent Product
I bought 1083 model (small) to trap some nuisance squirrels, The trap worked as advertised, I got 4 squirrels the first day and another 2 the next day. The size of this trap is perfect for squirrels and chipmunks. At first I was using peanut butter and sunflower seed for bait and a couple of squirrels managed to steal the bait without tripping the door, I went and bought some peanuts in shell, now I use the little garbage ties to tie the whole peanut in shell between the trip plate and back wall and sprinkle some sunflower seeds around, inside and out, This proved to be a fail safe trick ! Squirrel goes in, struggles with the tied peanut and trips the plate, every time ! This simple method never fails and I don't have to mess around with peanut butter and all those concoctions you see people using on YouTube.
Review RateGreat Traps
The best Traps I ever had. It is great for Squirrels. It would be great if the wire mesh would be a little finer, because some smaller mouse can escape through the mesh.
